ABOUT ME

Hi folks,

My name is Joy, and I am the lady behind the camera at Cedar Rose Photography Solasta which is also partly named after my children and my Scottish Heritage. Solasta means “to illuminate”. After 18 years in Human Services and Counselling field I had my miracle babies. I was not only blessed with one miracle – but two. My children are the reason behind my newfound passion of photography. A few months after my daughter was born, I picked up the family Nikon camera and started snapping. I found an outlet that made my heart sing. I am a Natural Light Photographer and love the “golden hour” – the hour before sunrise and sunset. I am also a self-taught Photographer who has done a workshop with Spruce and Sparrow Photography – whose course was so perfectly named “Find Your Light”, I continue to educate myself and build skill as my journey continues through those whose craft I admire and online. It is my honor and hope to be on this journey with you while also capturing your beautiful and amazing essences, through pictures and precious moments. I value the unearthed beauty of my beautiful province and those I am so blessed to have in front of my camera. I am an inclusive photographer and value this immensely, we need to be both human and kind. I love a good Lavender London Fog, Foraging, Wanderlust, Farmer’s Markets, Supporting Local, All Things Curated & Creative, Gems and Jesus and my Dog Scout. I live in the rolling hills of Cochrane, Alberta with my husband and two children who are my heart.
